The .28 carat, Natural Tanzanite has vivid saturation and excellent clarity with no visible inclusions, and is a sparkling violet-purple-blue color! Photos are taken under professional lighting and are magnified at 50x zoom to show details that may not be visible to the naked eye. Accenting this rare gemstone are 1.50mm round cut, natural Diamond accents (14 total) that are H color with VS2-SI1 clarity and weigh a combined total of carats. The ring is clearly hallmarked 14K on the inside of the 2.25mm band. When worn, the top of the ring/stone is elevated about 6.00mm from the finger.

Tanzanite is the blue and violet variety of the mineral zoisite. Tanzanite is only found in Tanzania, in a very small mining area near the Mererani Hills. Given the name “Tanzanite” by Tiffany & Co., the "blue-violet zoisite" was first introduced to the market in 1968. In 2002, the American Gem Trade Association chose tanzanite as a December birthstone, the first change to their birthstone list since 1912. Tanzanites are noted for their remarkably strong trichroism, appearing alternately sapphire blue, violet and burgundy depending on the crystal orientation. They also appear differently when viewed under alternate lighting conditions. The blues appear more evident when subjected to fluorescent light and the violet hues can be seen readily when viewed under incandescent illumination. Tanzanite forms as a brownish crystal and is trichroic, which means it shows three colors – brown, blue and violet – concurrently. Heating, either underground naturally by metamorphic processes, or artificially, removes the brown or burgundy color component to produce a stronger violet-blue color.
**Currently a size 6 ½ but could be sized, free of charge, by my master jeweler so that it is ready to be gifted or worn upon arrival! Most rings can be sized a maximum of 3-4 sizes up or down depending on the style of the ring. Please indicate your desired size at checkout and allow up to 10 business days for my local expert jeweler to complete sizing. I do not accept returns on items that have been custom sized or altered at your request so if you are unsure about an item, it may be best to have it sized by your local jeweler just in case.
